This policy describes what information MyBookAngel collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built MyBookAngel to help you catalog your personal book collection, and we collect only what's needed to do that. We do not sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

The app requests camera access only to scan barcodes and capture cover photos, and photo access only if you pick a cover image. Cover photos you take stay on your device and are not uploaded.

We do not collect location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or analytics/tracking data.

2. How we use your information

To provide the core service: cataloging, cloud backup, and cross-device sync of your collection.
To look up book details — requests go to the Google Books and Open Library APIs.
To send a single launch notification, only if you asked to be notified.
To provide customer support when you contact us.

3. Affiliate links

"Where to buy" and audiobook links may be affiliate links. If you purchase through them, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These links open in your browser; we don't track your purchases.

4. Sharing your information

We don't sell or rent your data. We share information only:

Wishlist links you create — the books on a shared wishlist become viewable by anyone with the link. No account details or personal information are shown.
Service providers — our hosting provider (which stores the database) and the book-data APIs noted above.
Legal — if required by law.

5. Data retention

We keep your account data until you delete it or request deletion. Deleted books are removed from active use and purged after sync. When you delete your account, your account, books, devices, share links and alerts are permanently removed.

6. Your choices and rights

Access & export — export your library to CSV anytime from the app.
Edit or delete — change or delete any book at any time.
Delete your account — email us and we'll erase your data (we honor access and deletion requests, including GDPR/CCPA).
Use without an account — the app works locally without signing in; cloud sync is optional.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and sync uses revocable tokens. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

8. Children

MyBookAngel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; we'll revise the effective date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app or by email.
