A LITTLE HELP FOR YOUR LIBRARY
Let's find your place.
Start here for adding books, using another device, understanding values and managing your account.
Adding your books
Use Scan for an ISBN barcode, search by title or author in the native app, or enter the details yourself. Check that a lookup result matches your edition before saving it.
The camera cannot read my book
Use the printed ISBN near the barcode. Book ISBNs have 10 or 13 characters; other product barcodes may not work. Improve the light, keep the barcode steady, and allow camera permission in your browser or device settings. Manual ISBN and title entry remain available when a camera or decoder is unsupported.
The book is missing or its details are wrong
Book metadata comes from external catalogs and may be incomplete. Retry, search by title in the app, or enter the details manually. In the browser, changing the ISBN clears generated details so one edition is not accidentally saved as another.
Camera frames are processed on your device. The recognized ISBN is sent for book lookup; video is not uploaded.
Your account and local books
The native app can keep a library without signing in. Cloud sync needs an account and a connection. In the browser, changes are saved to the account you are signed into.
Keep a backup before reinstalling an app, moving a local-only library or deleting data. A CSV is a spreadsheet export and may omit history or local images. Use a complete backup when your installed app offers it and verify its contents.
What a book value means
An owner-entered value is your personal estimate. An automatic replacement estimate needs an available offer for the same edition, format and purchasing region. Free data sources do not cover every book; automatic prices may be unavailable.
A missing value is unknown, not zero. An eBook listing, old catalog price, or a different edition is not a current physical replacement cost. Special copies such as signed editions may need a personal assessment. Collection totals should be read alongside their priced-book coverage and currency.
Do not use these estimates as a professional appraisal. Source, date, condition and shipping assumptions matter when a replacement estimate is available.
Loans, gifts and collection history
Use Manage copy in the browser book drawer, or Track in the native app, to record where a copy went. A loaned copy is still yours; sold, gifted, donated and lost copies appear in collection history.
App versions differ in offline history support. Check that a borrower's details and notes are saved before relying on them, especially in an older version.
Sharing your wishlist
Anyone with your shared wishlist link can view it. Replace a link to invalidate the previous one, or disable sharing to remove access. Clearing a gift claim makes the book available for another person to reserve; it does not contact the original gift giver.
Windows download notes
The currently linked Windows release is 1.5.2 for x64. Its installer is unsigned and is distributed directly from mybookangel.com, not through the Microsoft Store.
Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. Review the source and the signing status before choosing to install; do not disable Windows security features. Keep a backup of your library before replacing an existing installation.
